A Lifelong Walk Through God’s Word

About David Floyd

David Floyd came to faith in Jesus Christ during the days of the Jesus Movement, when a generation of young people was being awakened to the reality of the risen Savior and the authority of God’s Word. That early encounter with Christ began a lifelong desire to know Scripture, share the gospel, and help other believers understand what the Bible teaches.

For more than five decades, David has served the Lord in different seasons of life. He has taught and pastored in churches, shared the gospel publicly—including in San Francisco—and continued studying Scripture while building a professional career in Information Technology. Those years joined two enduring interests: careful biblical study and the practical use of technology to communicate truth clearly.

After retiring from Information Technology, David began using video and digital media to continue the work that had shaped his life for decades. The Dogeared Disciple became a place to explain the gospel of salvation, encourage believers, defend the blessed hope of the Church, and examine Bible prophecy from a pre-tribulation and dispensational perspective.

The Story Behind the Name

The channel name grew out of a simple picture: a Bible whose pages have become worn, marked, and dog-eared because its owner keeps returning to it. The worn corners don’t represent neglect. They represent use—a disciple reading, studying, questioning, praying, and coming back to God’s Word again and again.

That image also reflects David’s own journey. A disciple never graduates from Scripture and never reaches a point where God’s Word is no longer needed. The Dogeared Disciple is therefore more than a channel title. It expresses the heart of the ministry: a lifelong follower of Jesus with a well-used Bible, inviting others to open the Scriptures and study alongside him.

The Purpose of This Ministry

The purpose of The Dogeared Disciple is to point people to Jesus Christ, make the gospel clear, help believers think biblically, and encourage the Church to watch, pray, and stand firm. The ministry gives particular attention to Bible prophecy, the distinction between Israel and the Church, salvation by grace through faith, and the imminent return of Christ for His Church before the coming wrath.

Every teaching is offered with the conviction that biblical truth should be handled carefully, communicated plainly, and shared while there is still time.
